In this project I looked at different aspects of maps and incorporated them into weavings.

The above weaves were based on a road map of Ireland. I liked the bright colours of the road markings with the neutral green and blue background and decided to include strips of the map within the weave. They both use the same map but I have chosen to accentuate different colours by using different threads, weighing and pattern.

This weave does not concentrate on the map markings, but on the landscapes natural colours and shapes.

Dip dyed once woven. Acid Blue, Yellow 1:1
This weave imitates contour lines coming closer and closer together. The piece dip dyed a deep green that fades to cream.
